Whenever we are in Long Beach, we start our time with a bike ride along the ocean. It has become our little tradition, and let us tell you, it’s an absolute blast! 

The Shoreline Pedestrian Bike Path is a  paved walkway that stretches along the coastline. The path runs a whopping 5.5 miles and offers a picturesque route with stunning ocean views. 

The best part is, you don’t even need to bring your own bike. Long Beach has a convenient public bike share program where you can easily rent bikes for the day.

Just grab a couple of wheels, hop on, and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze as you cruise along the path. 

You’ll pass by sandy beaches, bustling piers, and maybe even catch a glimpse of some surfers riding the waves. It’s a fantastic way to soak in the atmosphere of Long Beach and spend quality time with your teens.

Spending time at the beach during our time in Long Beach is a given. We love to bring the fourth member of our family, our labrador Lily, along with us to Rosie’s Beach, Southern California’s #1 dog beach right here in Long Beach.

However, if you don’t have a dog or don’t want to hang with four-legged friends, don’t worry! Long Beach offers other beautiful beaches to enjoy.

One popular spot is Alamitos Beach, with its golden sand and clear waters. It’s perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or even joining in a game of beach volleyball.

Another great option is Belmont Shore Beach, known for its vibrant atmosphere and charming boardwalk. Stroll along the shore, explore local shops, and treat your teens to some delicious beachside snacks.

Our favorite place to eat on Belmont Shore is Belmont Brewing Company. They have great craft beer. You can eat inside, but if there is space head out to the deck for great views of the pier, kite surfers, and during the golden hour, the sunset.
